The story
Built on long rides
I grew up with nothing and worked multiple jobs for every opportunity I got. I spent 25 years in the corporate world running complex projects under real pressure. I bootstrapped my own ventures, took hits, and built things back from scratch.
Then my heart failed, suddenly and nearly for good. I fought my way back to full strength one ride at a time. That comeback settled what I actually care about: long days on a bike in places that make you feel small.
I have done a 1,300-mile ride. I have ridden 24 hours straight. The point is never the bragging rights. Nothing else clears your head like a big ride, and nothing else gives back that much.
Velo Escapes came straight out of that. I kept building epic trips for myself and got good at it, so I turned it into a company. I plan the routes, I handle the details, and I ride every single trip.
